ROY ELVOVE

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR WORLDWIDE COMMUNICATIONS
BBDO

Roy Elvove is Executive Vice President and Director Worldwide Communications for BBDO.  In this position, Roy is responsible for helping to build and enhance the BBDO brand and reputation among the agency’s key target audiences around the world including clients, new business prospects, consultants, current and prospective employees and, of course, the press.

Roy joined BBDO New York in 1999 after years with Saatchi & Saatchi.  At BBDO, he has had an important impact on the agency’s visibility.  For example, during this 19-year period, BBDO has been named Agency of the Year more than 20 times by Ad Age, Adweek, BtoB, Campaign, Creativity, Fast Company and Shoot magazines (some on multiple occasions).  Mayor Bloomberg even proclaimed January 10, 2006 to be “BBDO Day” in New York. 

Over the years, BBDO’s selection as “Agency of the Year” has been heavily influenced by the agency’s highly visible profile, which has included numerous stories in prominent media outlets like The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Fast Company, Forbes, Financial Times, New York magazine and more.  Equally important has been Roy’s efforts to help improve the awareness, visibility and reputation of the agency’s top management which includes Worldwide President and CEO, Andrew Robertson and Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, David Lubars, among others.

Beyond this, Roy has also helped contribute to BBDO’s enhanced perception as a total new media and marketing communications company...”the 125-year-old agency of the future.” 

In recognition of these accomplishments, Roy was presented one of BBDO’s coveted “Founders Awards” which recognizes contributions from people who day-in and day-out embody what BBDO is all about.  He is also a recipient of the agency’s highest honor:  The Dillon Prize.  Beyond this, Roy recently served as co-chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies’ (4A’s) Communications Committee and was one of the original recipients of The Advertising Council’s GD Crain Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to public service.  He has also been presented The President’s Award from The Advertising Club.

Roy has a unique background, which makes him ideally suited to his position.  Prior to joining BBDO, Roy worked at Saatchi & Saatchi in account management as well as corporate communications.  Working as a senior account manager provided him with insights and a unique understanding of the duties and responsibilities handled by his client-side PR counterparts.  At the same time, while serving as Director of Corporate Communications for Saatchi & Saatchi, Roy was involved in managing publicity during the highly visible ousting of the Saatchi brothers in the early ‘90s.  Needless to say, this proved to be an invaluable experience in learning how to handle agency crisis situations.

Roy is both an undergraduate and graduate of Northwestern University (in communications and advertising), married, and lives in New York with his wife Caryn.His son Zachary is also a recent graduate of Northwestern, with a triple major in American Studies, History and German.
